Modulating Purothionin Accumulation and Signal Peptide Cleavage Fine‐Tunes Wheat Flour Gluten Properties to Improve Cookie‐Making Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual genetic strategies for improving wheat processing quality by regulating purothionin accumulation to modulate gluten quantity and quality. The first strategy involves targeting signal peptide (SP) cleavage sites (e.g., through mutation) to indirectly reduce gluten content, thereby disrupting gluten network formation.

Bacteriophage‐Mimetic DNA Origami Needle for Targeted Membrane Penetration and Cytosolic Cargo Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We designed a synthetic DNA origami needle‐like structure inspired by bacteriophages for targeted drug delivery. Functionalized with trastuzumab antibodies, cholesterol, and dyes, it selectively targets SKBR3 cancer cells. A glutathione‐triggered dye payload enables controlled release, and delivery is verified using confocal microscopy and live cell ...

DNA Nanostructure‐Templated Multivalency Enables Broad‐Spectrum Virus Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructure is introduced that organizes nanobodies or aptamers into trimeric clusters mirroring the native hemagglutinin arrangement on influenza viruses. This geometry‐matched multivalency enhances binding avidity by up to 1000‐fold, resulting in robust, broad‐spectrum viral neutralization and a 30–55% improvement in host ...

Real‐Time In Vivo Monitoring of Anastomotic Intestinal Ischemia Using Implantable Resorbable Organic Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resorbable impedance sensors are successfully implanted into porcine small intestinal anastomoses. Impedance was recorded for 2 hours prior, and 2 hours following ischemia induction, and a significant drop in tissue impedance was observed. Abstract Anastomotic failure remains one of the most severe complications in gastrointestinal surgery.

DNA‐Guided Robust Single‐Protein Electronic Readout

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electronic measurements of single proteins can reveal fundamental insights into their structure, dynamics, and interactions, but reproducibility is severely limited by the intrinsic structural heterogeneity of proteins combined with uncontrolled molecular orientation and electrode contact geometries.

Appendicorectal fistula with a novel solution: First case report and review of the literature

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2019
Appendicorectal fistula can be a cause of chronic abdominal pain, forming years after an occult episode of appendicitis. It can be diagnosed with Colonoscopy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and successfully treated surgically with laparoscopic ...

Machine Learning for Green Solvents: Assessment, Selection and Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Environmental regulations have intensified demand for green solvents, but discovery is limited by Solvent Selection Guides (SSGs) that quantify solvent sustainability. Training a machine learning model on GlaxoSmithKline SSG, a database of sustainability metrics for 10,189 solvents, GreenSolventDB is developed. Integrated with Hansen solubility metrics,

[Critical considerations on circular staplers].

open access: yesIl Giornale di chirurgia, 1990
After a careful review of the literature and a critical evaluation of personal experience on stapling technics in visceral anastomoses, some critical considerations on circular devices are reported. The Authors emphasize the well known qualities of staplers which brought to their routine use in digestive surgery.
