Angular momentum of a circularly polarized light beam. [PDF]
It is shown that the Maxwell electrodynamics cannot explain the existence of an angular momentum flux in a circularly polarized light beam which has no the phase structure. The fact is that such a beam contains a small rotating electromagnetic mass and, accordingly, contains an angular momentum directed along the beam axis, but this rotating mass has ...

Understanding laser desorption with circularly polarized light [PDF]
AbstractWe present aspects of emerging optical activity in thin racemic 1,1′‐Bi‐2‐naphthol films upon irradiation with circularly polarized light and subsequent resonant two‐photon absorption in the sample. Thorough analysis of the sample morphology is conducted by means of (polarization‐resolved) optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy ...

Transverse Photovoltage Induced by Circularly Polarized Light [PDF]
We discovered that when circularly polarized light is obliquely incident on a two-dimensional metallic photonic crystal slabs, electrical voltage is induced perpendicularly to the incident plane. Signal sign is reversed by changing the sense of polarization or incident angle.

Suppression of supercontinuum generation with circularly polarized light [PDF]
Controlling a nonlinear process like supercontinuum generation (SG) with the polarization-state of laser is an important demonstration of laser selectivity. We show that the threshold for SG and the total amount of supercontinuum generated depends on incident laser polarization for isotropic samples. Irrespective of the nature of the samples chosen, SG

Enantiospecific Desorption Triggered by Circularly Polarized Light [PDF]
AbstractThe interest in enantioseparation and enantiopurification of chiral molecules has been drastically increasing over the past decades, since these are important steps in various disciplines such as pharmaceutical industry, asymmetric catalysis, and chiral sensing. By exposing racemic samples of BINOL (1,1′‐bi‐2‐naphthol) coated onto achiral glass

Resonant photoelectron diffraction with circularly polarized light [PDF]
Resonant angle scanned x-ray photoelectron diffraction (RXPD) allows the determination of the atomic and magnetic structure of surfaces and interfaces. For the case of magnetized nickel the resonant L2 excitation with circularly polarized light yields electrons with a dichroic signature from which the dipolar part may be retrieved.

Valley polarization in biased bilayer graphene using circularly polarized light [PDF]
We theoretically examine valley-polarization induced in biased bilayer graphene using circularly polarized light. We find that a very strong valley-polarization can be achieved (> 97%) with careful choice of bias and pulse frequency.

Chiral plasmonic nanostructures fabricated with circularly polarized light. [PDF]
Chiral plasmonic nanostructures (cPNSs) have garnered extensive interest across disciplines due to their strong interaction with circularly polarized light (CPL). Numerous fundamental studies have demonstrated the enhancement of chiroptic effects in molecular systems and quantum emitters facilitated by chiral metal nanostructures; for example, the ...

Emission of circularly polarized light by a linear dipole [PDF]
We show that an individual linear dipole emitter—contrary to common belief—can also radiate circularly polarized light.
