COX and the control of the pulmonary circulation
Thrombosis Research, 2003The lung possesses a low resistance circulation that must, at all times, accommodate the entire cardiac output. Moreover, to ensure proper oxygenation of hemoglobin, blood flow must be directed to well-ventilated lung units, i.e., ventilation and perfusion must be matched.

Neurogenic Control of Cerebral Circulation
Cephalalgia, 1985The cerebral vascular neuromuscular apparatus consists of a varicose perivascular nerve plexus at the adventitial-medial border and smooth muscle cells in the medial coat that are functionally connected. In addition to noradrenaline and acetylcholine, a number of putative non-adrenergic, non-cholingergic neurotransmitters have been identified in ...

Neural Control of the Bronchial Circulation
Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry, 2003A distinction may be drawn between studies that define potential mechanisms of control, those that define components of control systems, and those that determine the priority of controls in the integrated system. It is the priority controls that determine survival in the environment. These different kinds of studies are necessary and complementary.

A neural controller for a natural circulation loop
2001 European Control Conference (ECC), 2001This paper presents a neural network based approach to the identification and control of an experimental natural circulation loop. The aim of the model is to predict the dynamical evolution of the oscillations, characterizing the system dynamics in some operating conditions and that can cause dangerous flow reversal.

Vasomotor control of the pulmonary circulation.
Folia Pharmacologica Japonica, 1999It was demonstrated that pulmonary vessels, in contrast to systemic vessels, 1) have a low basal vascular tone, 2) constrict in response to hypoxia and 3) do not display significantly prominent vasomotion during autonomic nerve stimulation. However, details about these characteristics have not been clarified sufficiently by conventional methods; namely,

Experiments with Controlled Langmuir Circulations
Science, 1978Laboratory experiments in which wind was blown gently over a regular crossed-wave pattern have clearly shown the existence of regular, steady, and reproducible Langmuir circulations. The circulations were present only when both the wind and the wave patterns existed at the same time. With circulations having an across-wind wavelength of 44 centimeters,

CONTROLLED CIRCULATION JOURNALS
Aslib Proceedings, 1971Company librarians and information officers are in the communications business. So are industrial publishers. We both try to serve approximately the same audience, but we rarely put our heads together to find ways of achieving our common objectives. If this meeting, therefore, does no more than lay the cables for a communications link which can be used

Humoral Control of the Pulmonary Circulation
Annual Review of Physiology, 1980During the last several years many studies have attempted to describe the action of vasoactive substances on the pulmonary vascular bed, to characĀ terize the humoral receptors of its smooth muscle receptors, and to deterĀ mine the make-up of the "cascades" of activation and release of agents that may mediate the pulmonary vascular responses to their ...

A matrix model of circulation control
Information Processing & Management, 1991Abstract In this paper, a general abstract model of circulation control systems having utility in practical implementations is discussed. Specifically addressed are the pragmatic issues involved in the implementation of a matrix model using an orthogonal list data structure for very large arrays. Implications for file locking are also discussed.

Control of the Coronary Circulation
1984Normal function of the heart depends on an adequate coronary blood flow. Myocardial metabolism and coronary flow are mutually interactive so that any increase in the metabolism of the normal heart is matched by an increase in coronary blood flow, and any significant restriction of flow in pathophysiologic states results in the reduction of myocardial ...
