Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Coal Gasification in a Circulating Fluidized Bed Reactor

2019 7th International Engineering, Sciences and Technology Conference (IESTEC), 2019
One of the applications of coal as a fuel is the production of gas through circulating fluidized bed technology. The modeling of these systems allows verifying and optimizing the design and operation parameters of gasifiers for analysis and improvement of gasification technologies.

Investigation of the Unsteady Behavior of a Circulation Control Wing Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

, 2011
This paper details the results of an investigation into the unsteady behavior of a circulation control wing using computational fluid dynamics. Oscillations in the lift coefficient of up to 10% are observed for steady state simulations.

Computational Fluid Dynamics–Discrete Element Method Investigation of Pressure Signals and Solid Back-Mixing in a Full-Loop Circulating Fluidized Bed

, 2017
Computational fluid dynamics combined with discrete element method is employed to investigate the pressure signals and solid back-mixing behavior in a three-dimensional full-loop circulating fluidized bed operating in fast fluidization (FF) and dilute ...

Dynamics of wintertime stratospheric transport in the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory SKYHI general circulation model

Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 1995
The kinematics of air motions in and around the polar vortices in the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory SKYHI general circulation model are investigated by means of a Lagrangian particle analysis. Particles initialized in the mesosphere and upper stratosphere rapidly descend to the middle stratosphere.

An Experimental Investigation of the Acoustic and Fluid Dynamic Characteristics of a Circulation-Controlled Airfoil

2011
Abstract : The purpose of this investigation is to experimentally identify and characterize the flow field and corresponding noise sources of a circulation control airfoil. Flow and acoustic data are obtained for a dual-slotted, elliptic circulation control airfoil in an anechoic wind tunnel.

Computational‐fluid‐dynamics (CFD) modelling of an industrial crystallizer: application to the forced‐circulation reactor

Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, 2004
The CFD (computational fluid dynamics) technique is used to describe the mixing conditions in a pilot‐scale FCC (forced‐circulation crystallizer) and to study the impact of flow rate and aspect ratio on local flow conditions and RTD (residence‐time distribution) in the crystallizer.

the functionally univentricular circulation in the norwood procedure: from analysis of fluid dynamics to surgical procedures

Cardiology in the Young, 2004
the norwood procedure and its modifications have become the most commonly used surgical procedures for patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. many efforts have been made to understand the fluid dynamics of the norwood circulation, with the major impetus coming from the lumped-parameter model described by migliavacca et al.

A computational fluid dynamics design of a carbon dioxide sorption circulating fluidized bed

AIChE Journal, 2010
AbstractA kinetic theory based hydrodynamic model with experimentally determined sorption rates for reaction of CO2 with K2CO3 solid sorbent is used to design a compact circulating fluidized bed sorption‐regeneration system for CO2 removal from flue gases. Because of high solids fluxes, the sorber does not require internal or external cooling.
