The dynamics of circulant and near-circulant systems

Point mass systems in which the interaction matrix is a symmetric circulant occur in a wide variety of physical situations. In many cases also the interaction matrix, while not being a circulant, may differ only slightly from one. The dynamics of both exact and near-circulant systems are analysed in the present paper.

Hydromechanical simulation of systemic circulation

A hydromechanical model is developed for the simulation of the arterial systemic circulation. The geometry and elastic properties of arteries, the pulse-rate and stroke volume of the left ventricle, the design of peripheral resistances and the viscosity of the model fluid are approximated to physiological conditions.

Circulating immune complexes in systemic amyloidosis

Abstract Serum immune complexes were measured in patients with immunocytic amyloidosis (8 patients), reactive amyloidosis (6 patients), and amyloidosis secondary to familial mediterranean fever (11 patients). 125 I-C lq -binding method and 4% PEG precipitation methods were employed for immune complex determinations.

Effect of Dilazep on Coronary and Systemic Circulations

In order to assess the effects of dilazep on central hemodynamics and regional flows, 0.2 mg/kg of the drug were administered intravenously to 6 open-chest anesthetized dogs. Hemodynamic and flow measurements were performed under control conditions, and approximately 5, 10 and 25 min after treatment.

On the Solution of Circulant Linear Systems

The paper presents efficient methods for the solution of linear systems having circulant (banded circulant, block circulant) coefficient matrices. The proposed methods are more efficient than Toeplitz type methods and are based on the fast Fourier transform as well as the circulant factorization of ''banded'' circulant matrices.
