Asymmetric eROSITA bubbles as the evidence of a circumgalactic medium wind [PDF]
The origins of the pair of X-ray bubbles, called eROSITA bubbles (eRBs), detected in the halo of Milky Way are debated. Here, the authors show hydrodynamical simulations suggesting circumgalactic medium wind model can explain asymmetric eRBs.

The Circumgalactic Medium Traced by Mg ii Absorption with DESI: Dependence on Galaxy Stellar Mass, Star Formation Rate, and Azimuthal Angle [PDF]
Understanding the circumgalactic medium (CGM) distribution of galaxies is the key to revealing the dynamical exchange of materials between galaxies and their surroundings.

Circum-Galactic Medium in the Halo of Quasars [PDF]
The properties of circum-galactic gas in the halo of quasar host galaxies are investigated analyzing Mg II 2800 and C IV 1540 absorption-line systems along the line of sight close to quasars.

THE CIRCUMGALACTIC MEDIUM OF MASSIVE GALAXIES ATz∼ 3: A TEST FOR STELLAR FEEDBACK, GALACTIC OUTFLOWS, AND COLD STREAMS [PDF]
We present new results on the kinematics, thermal and ionization state, and spatial distribution of metal-enriched gas in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of massive galaxies at redshift 3, using the "Eris" suite of cosmological "zoom-in" simulations. The

Observed breakBRD (“break bulges in red disks”) galaxies are a nearby sample of face-on disk galaxies with particularly centrally concentrated star formation: they have red disks but recent star formation in their centers as measured by the D _n 4000 ...

The circumgalactic medium (CGM) is often assumed to exist in or near hydrostatic equilibrium, with the regulation of accretion and the effects of feedback treated as perturbations to a stable balance between gravity and thermal pressure.

Detector system challenges of the wide‐field spectroscopic survey telescope (WST)
Abstract The wide‐field spectroscopic survey telescope (WST) is proposed to become the next large optical/near infrared facility for the European southern observatory (ESO) once the extremely large telescope (ELT) has become operational. While the latter is optimized for unprecedented sensitivity and adaptive‐optics assisted image quality over a small ...

The Launching of Cold Clouds by Galaxy Outflows. V. The Role of Anisotropic Thermal Conduction
Motivated by observations of multiphase galaxy outflows, we explore the impact of isotropic and anisotropic electron thermal conduction on the evolution of radiatively cooled, cold clouds embedded in hot, magnetized winds.

Chemical abundances in the dwarf galaxy NGC 4163 based on the nebular and auroral emission lines
Abstract We constructed an oxygen abundance map and N/O ratio map of the unusually low excitation dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 4163 based on publicly available spectroscopy obtained by the MaNGA survey. We detected auroral emission line [O II]λλ$$ \lambda \lambda $$7320,7330 which allows us to measure chemical abundance by direct Te$$ {\mathrm{T}}_e ...

The Spatial and Emission Properties of the Large [O iii] Emission Nebula Near M31
Drechsler et al. reported the unexpected discovery of a 1.°5 long [O iii ] emission nebula 1.°2 southeast of the M31 nucleus. Here we present additional images of this large emission arc, called the Strottner–Drechsler–Sainty Object (SDSO), along with ...
