The Circumgalactic Medium [PDF]
The gas surrounding galaxies outside their disks or interstellar medium and inside their virial radii is known as the circumgalactic medium (CGM). In recent years this component of galaxies has assumed an important role in our understanding of galaxy evolution owing to rapid advances in observational access to this diffuse, nearly invisible material ...

The circumgalactic medium of high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
Abstract We study the properties of the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of high-z galaxies in the metal enrichment simulations presented in Pallottini et al. At z = 4, we find that the simulated CGM gas density profiles are self-similar, once scaled with the virial radius of the parent dark matter halo.

The fates of the circumgalactic medium in the FIRE simulations [PDF]
ABSTRACT We analyse the different fates of the circumgalactic medium (CGM) in FIRE-2 cosmological simulations, focusing on the redshifts z = 0.25 and 2 representative of recent surveys. Our analysis includes 21 zoom-in simulations covering the halo mass range $M_{\rm h}(z=0) \sim 10^{10} \!-\! 10^{12} \rm {\,M}_\odot$.
