Radiative transfer in circumstellar 1612 MHz OH masers

A detailed investigation of radiative transfer in the 1612 MHz OH maser in the expanding envelopes around evolved stars is made in the context of the standard model in which the mass outflow is windlike. The most sensitive diagnostic of the models is the maser emission at the velocity of the star for which VLA and MERLIN data exist.
