Postoperative infective complications have significant negative effects on oncological outcomes in colorectal cancer. Anastomotic leakage has a negative effect on every measured outcome. Impact of extent of disease on 1‐year healthcare costs in patients who undergo cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for colorectal peritoneal metastases: retrospective observational cohort study

Well selected patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases can be treated with curative intent by cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Treatment‐related healthcare costs are significantly increased among patients with extensive peritoneal disease, although the associated survival gain is limited.

Volume–outcome relationship of liver surgery: a nationwide analysis

This study analysed the association between hospital volume and postoperative outcomes in the nationwide Dutch Hepato Biliary Audit. A total of 5590 resections was performed across 34 centres with a median annual centre volume of 35 (i.q.r. 20–69) procedures. No association was found between hospital and postoperative outcomes.
