Iodocyclization of cis-1-R-2-allylcyclopentan-1-ols

Derivatives of cyclopenta[b]tetrahydrofurans are formed as a result of the iodocyclization of cis-1-R-2-allylcyclopentan-1-ols. The iodocyclization reaction of unsaturated alcohols is described by a kinetic equation of the second order (the first order for each of the reagents).

An improved synthesis of isomerically pure cis-1-bromopropene

We report a substantial improvement in the procedure by carrying out the bromo decarboxylation of 2 in neat Et 3 N or EtN(i-Pr) 2 at 40 o C. Use of either amine provided isomerically pure 3 reproducibly in 57% yield (3≡title compound)

Abstract A new strategy to prepare tetradentate or pentadentate diphenylphosphine ligands has been explored from Diels–Alder adducts of fulvenes and maleic anhydride. A tetradentate phosphine ligand, bearing a side chain allowing the formation of a bond with polystyrene resin, has been prepared in seven steps from cyclopentadiene.

Sulfinyl and sulfonyl derivatives of aryl substituted cis-1-thiadecalins

Individual 2α-aryl- and 2α,4α-diaryl-cis-thiadecalin-1Β-oxides and 1,1-dioxides have been synthesized. The effect of sulfinyl and sulfonyl groups has been observed on the chemical shifts of carbon atoms in these conformationally homogeneous, stereochemically similar systems.
