Habitat-dependent occupancy and movement in a migrant songbird highlights the importance of mangroves and forested lagoons in Panama and Colombia. [PDF]

We found that overwintering occupancy and movement are habitat‐dependent in a nonterritorial overwintering migrant bird. Warblers in mangroves and other wet habitats are least likely to experience local extinction as dry season progresses, and warbler abundance was highest in mature mangroves forests.

Sand addition promotes gharial nesting in a regulated river‐reservoir habitat

Gharial nesting and successful hatching is dependent upon open nesting banks, free of vegetation. In a river‐reservoir with increased bankside vegetation, due to reduced water flow, the construction of open nesting banks by sand addition resulted in increased nesting and hatching, when compared to removal of vegetated sandbanks.
