Nest Survival Models and Genomics Illuminate Hybridisation Attempts, Guiding Culturally Informed Management to Recover a Critically Endangered Seabird

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Long‐term monitoring has revealed hybridisation attempts between the Critically Endangered Kuaka Whenua Hou (KWH, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis) and the abundant Kuaka (P. urinatrix). Here we use modelling based on population monitoring data in tandem with genomic data to investigate these attempts and the risk they pose to KWH recovery.

Estimation of genetic parameters for chosen udder traits of different dairy ewes

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2019
Morphology of udder in ewes in one experimental herd was examined on the basis of linear evaluation (7 traits; 9 points scale; 1145 data for each trait) and exact measurements of udder (6 parameters; 1055 measurements at each trait) were taken ...

Phase coupling between eye and brain pulsations is bidirectional and modulated by the parasympathetic system – An fMREye study

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Physiological pulsations driven by cardiac, respiratory, and vasomotor activity are essential for solute transport within perivascular and perineural cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pathways that support brain and eye clearance systems. Previous studies have shown that parasympathetic blockade significantly reduces ocular pulsation power and

Cistern

open access: yes
The project is located in the Stockholm suburb of Vårberg, southwest of the city center. When walking south from the metro station, one soon sees what looks like an aluminum-clad silo. It is part of an abandoned heating plant that has been turned into an art exhibition hall called Kummelholmen.

Estimation of udder cistern size in dairy ewes by ultrasonography

open access: yesMljekarstvo, 2015
We studied the size of mammary cistern in ewes of 9 genotypes (purebred Improved Valachian (IV), purebred Tsigai (T), purebred Lacaune (LC) and their crosses with genetic proportion of specialized dairy breeds Lacaune and East Friesian (EF) - (25 %, 50 %

Mortars From Punic and Hellenistic–Roman Solunto: Materials, Formulations, and Technology

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents an archaeometric investigation of 18 hydraulic rendering and bedding mortars from Punic and Hellenistic–Roman Solunto (NW Sicily). The research aimed to characterize raw materials, reconstruct manufacturing sequences, and evaluate technological proficiency through mineralogical and petrochemical analyses.

Using IoT for Cistern and Water Tank Level Monitoring

open access: yesApplied System Innovation
This paper proposes an experimental design to publish online the measurements obtained from four sensors: one sensor inside a cistern measures the level of drinking water, another sensor in a water tank monitors its level, a third sensor measures water ...

Probable sepsis‐associated encephalopathy as a component of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome in a cat with pyothorax

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
A 2‐year‐old male neutered domestic shorthair cat with bacterial pyothorax was referred to a tertiary hospital for treatment of sepsis. He met criteria for multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and developed new‐onset neurological dysfunction subsequent to the development of sepsis.
