Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi support plant development by enhancing growth and resistance to pathogens through mycorrhiza‐induced resistance (MIR). However, the varying capacities of individual AM fungal species to induce MIR are not well‐understood, limiting their agricultural potential.

Huánglóngbìng (HLB) is a bacterial disease of citrus that has significantly impacted Brazil and the United States, although citrus production in the Mediterranean Basin remains unaffected. By developing a mathematical model of spread in Spain, we tested surveillance and control strategies before any future HLB entry in the EU.

Cocoa‐driven deforestation threatens tropical forests, particularly in Côte d'Ivoire, the world's largest cocoa producer. This study examines the motivations behind cocoa cultivation in classified forests, the selection of retained tree species on farms, and the economic drivers of wooded lands conservation among farmers.

How urban proximity shapes agricultural pest dynamics: a review
This review explores how proximity to human settlements affects agricultural pest and pathogen dynamics, highlighting the roles of microclimatic conditions, biological aspects, and management effects. It underscores the need for integrated pest management strategies to address these complex interactions and enhance sustainable agriculture.

Testing an integrated approach for managing roof rats in citrus orchards
A roof rat management program that combined diphacinone bait application with snap trapping was more efficacious than baiting alone or a management program that included bait, snap traps, and Goodnature A24 traps. Efficacy and cost comparisons suggest that combining baiting and snap trapping will provide long‐term relief from roof rats.

Efficacy and cost of four plant‐derived, natural herbicides for certified organic agriculture
After three seasons of repeated applications, active ingredients capric and caprylic acid and d‐limonene reduced early season perennial weed cover compared with hand weeding and a do‐nothing control. Abstract BACKGROUND Weed management is the greatest production challenge for most certified organic farmers, with few herbicides allowed on organic farms.

Factors affecting detection and trapping efficacy of Mediterranean fruit flies
Trapping efficacy for medfly and other fruit flies depends on environmental factors, with ambient conditions having the strongest effect. Cold acclimation can skew population estimates, making careful data interpretation essential for accurate population assessments and early detection of invasive pests.

Spray drift deposit measured in almond orchard significantly decayed downwind until termination at 531.1 m for artificial foliage sampler and 232.8 m for horizontal string samplers based on logarithmic curve fitting. Drift variability among spray trials was significantly affected by variation in weather condition (wind direction, wind speed, and ...

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are virulent against multiple life stages of Aethina tumida in the laboratory. EPNs significantly reduce adult emergence in natural and autoclaved sterile soil under semi‐field glasshouse conditions. Abstract BACKGROUND The small hive beetle (SHB; Aethina tumida) is a significant pest affecting honey bees and the ...
