Entomopathogenic Nematodes for Control of Root Weevils of Citrus

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1992
The entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae (All strain), Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (HP-88 strain), H. bacteriophora (Florida strain), applied to the soil of a citrus grove near Lake Jem, Florida in March 1989, significantly reduced adult emergence of the root weevil, Diaprepes abbreviatus (L.).

Development and Evaluation of Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay for Rapid Detection of Tylenchulus semipenetrans Using DNA Extracted from Soil

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2017
Tylenchulus semipenetrans is an important and widespread plant-parasitic nematode of citrus worldwide and can cause citrus slow decline disease leading to significant reduction in tree growth and yield. Rapid and accurate detection of T. semipenetrans in

Infectivity of two biotypes of the citrus nematode on citrus and on some other hosts.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
The infectivity and development of two biotypes of citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans) were compared on highly resistant Poncirus trifoliata selection 'Pomeroy,' moderately susceptible 'Troyer' citrange, and highly susceptible sweet orange selection 'Homosassa' small seedlings in a glasshouse. Biotype-1 was more infective on the above hosts and

Interactions between mycophagous nematodes, mycorrhizal and other soil fungi [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The hypothesis that mycophagous nematodes feed on the mycelia of VAM fungi and consequently reduce the spread of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) infection in plant roots and the growth response of plants to this infection was investigated in ...

Comparative evaluation of powdered and aqueous extract of citrus peels and carbofuran in the management of root-knot nematode on infected cowpea field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Two years of experimental trials were conducted in Nigeria to investigate the effect of powdered and aqueous extract of citrus (sweet orange) peel in the management of root-knot nematodes of cowpea cultivar ‘IT96D-610’.

Influence of metalaxyl on three nematodes of citrus.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Metalaxyl significantly reduced population of Pratylenchus coffeae, Radopholus similis, and Tylenchulus semipenetrans in roots of Citrus limon (rough lemon) under greenhouse conditions. Postinoculation treatment of rough lemon seedlings was not as effective i n reducing nematode populations as was treatment before inoculation.

Control of the citrus nematode Tylenchulus semipenetrans using natural compounds through molecular modeling methods [PDF]

open access: yes
Tylenchulus semipenetrans is a key nematode pest of citrus, responsible for the ‘slow decline’ disease. It is distributed in almost all citrus-growing countries worldwide.

Nematodes in plant quarantine: Detection of plant parasitic nematode infestations difficult because of complexity of possible causes of visible symptoms

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1959
Nearly all the major crop pests in California–including plant parasitic nematodes–have been introduced on or in host plants or as contaminants on articles of commerce.

Preplant fumigation for citrus nematode control in Florida.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Preplant soil fumigation experiments were conducted to control the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans. Generally, D-D (1,3-dichloropropene, 1,2-dichloroptopane and related chlorinated C(3)-hydrocarbons), Telone (1,3-dichloropropene and related chlorinated C(3)-hydrocarbons), Telone PBC (80% 1,3-dichloropropene, 15% chloropicrin, 5% propargyl ...

Effect and mode of action of some systemic nematicides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
In this study, nematicidal effects, mode of action and specific characters of some systemic nematicides were studied, in search of substitutes for the widely used soil fumigants that require high dosages.
