Somatic Embryogenesis in Citrus (Citrus spp.), var. Valencia

2022
Somatic embryogenesis has been obtained in many citrus cultivars; however, the efficiency of the system is genotype dependent and culture synchronization is important to reach more efficient systems. In this chapter we present a detailed protocol of somatic embryogenesis induction from nucellar tissue and the use of an alternative method of callus ...

Antibacterial activity of Citrus hystrix toward Salmonella spp. infection

Enfermedades infecciosas y microbiologia clinica (English ed.), 2021
Citrus hystrix is widely used by Indonesians as a traditional medicine for gastrointestinal diseases, including Salmonella spp. infection. We investigated the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic peel extract of C. hystrix against Salmonella typhimurium. The antibacterial activity was evaluated both in vitro and in vivo.

Characterization of Citrus Honey (Citrus spp.) Produced in Spain

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1995
The palynological and physicochemical properties of 15 citrus honey samples commercially produced in Spain are reported. Methyl anthranilate contained in citrus honey gives a distinctive flavor to the product. The percentage of sucrose largely exceeds the legal limits established for honey by EU (5 g/100 g) and FAO/WHO (10 g/100 g), which require at ...

Phyllosticta spp. on cultivated Citrus in Australia

Australasian Plant Pathology, 2013
The occurrence of pathogenic and endophytic species of Phyllosticta on cultivated Citrus in Australia was investigated by DNA sequence analysis of specimens held in plant pathology herbaria and culture collections. Sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS1, 5.8S, ITS2), and partial translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF) gene of 41 ...

Micropropagation of Citrus spp. by Organogenesis and Somatic Embryogenesis

2012
Citrus spp., the largest fruit crops produced worldwide, are usually asexually propagated by cuttings or grafting onto seedling rootstocks. Most of Citrus genotypes are characterized by polyembryony due to the occurrence of adventive nucellar embryos, which lead to the production of true-to-type plants by seed germination.

Effects of Herbicides on Endomycorrhizal Fungi in Florida Citrus (Citrusspp.) Soils

Weed Science, 1983
Herbicide effects on vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi were studied in greenhouse and field tests. In field plots treated with a bromacil (5-bromo-3-sec-butyl-6-methyluracil) and diuron (3-[3,4-dichlorophenyl]-1,1-dimethylurea) mixture, fungus infection was similar to levels present in cultivated plots.

Somatic embryogenesis in Citrus SPP.: Carbohydrate stimulation and histodifferentiation

In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Plant, 2001
Somatic embryogenesis from nucellus-derived callus cultures of five cultivars, including three (Caipira, Seleta Vermelha, and Valencia) of sweet oranges (C. sinesis L. Osbeck), Rangpur lime (C. limonia L. Osbeck), and Cleopatra mandarin (C. reticulata Blanco) (lines I and II), were studied.
