Does surgical intervention contribute to survival for patients with para‐aortic lymph node metastasis from colorectal cancer?

Annals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Overall survival of patients who underwent surgical resection was significantly better compared to that of patients who underwent chemotherapy without surgical resection. These results highlight the benefit of surgical intervention to survival for patients with isolated para‐aortic lymph node metastasis or with resectable liver metastasis.

International Comparison of Geriatric‐Associated Variables in Major Gastroenterological Surgery Between National Clinical Database and American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program

Geriatric surgical risk factors and outcomes were compared between the US and Japanese databases. Geriatric‐associated preoperative variables and outcomes similarly increased with age. Super Subtotal Gastrectomy: A Novel Reconstruction Concept for Upper Gastric Cancer That Preserves the Fornix

We developed a novel super subtotal gastrectomy (SSTG) technique for upper‐third gastric cancer near the esophagogastric junction. This method preserves the gastric fornix, a major site of ghrelin secretion, while maintaining an oral margin beyond the esophageal junction.
