Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.

Reaction kinetics model in liquid and solid phases and its parameterization for room temperature sodium–sulfur battery

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract A multipore, multiphase, continuum model is assembled for the first time for room temperature sodium–sulfur (RT Na–S) batteries, with Na+ ion transport and redox reactions in the liquid electrolyte phase and semisolid phase of precipitates softened by the electrolyte solvent, as guided by molecular dynamics simulations in this study ...

Organising Civil Resistance - Understanding the Effects and Dynamics of Organisational Structures on the Outcome of Civil Resistance Campaigns

open access: yesThe Journal of Social Encounters
The use of nonviolent tactics has become the most common way to achieve change. The field of civil resistance has been predominantly focused on the dynamics related to the outcome, however, surprisingly little or no attention has been given to organizational structures that shape these dynamics.

From continuous to interruptible distillation: Flexible electric heating column architecture with fast start‐up

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Electrification of distillation offers a promising route to reducing scope‐1 emissions from one of the chemical industry's most energy‐intensive unit operations. However, conventional adiabatic columns are dynamically inflexible: Long, energy‐intensive start‐ups make shutdown and restart impractical under variable electricity prices and ...
