Asymmetric Single‐Atom Catalysts Govern Diffusible and Non‐Diffusible Non‐Radical Pathways for Selective Degradation of Antibiotic Resistance Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Asymmetric single‐atom metal‐nitrogen‐carbon catalysts modulate the non‐radical pathway during peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. A fundamental contrast was revealed between diffusible singlet oxygen (1O2) and non‐diffusible electron‐transfer pathways (ETP) in antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) degradation.

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Civil War Treasures

open access: yesCivil War Book Review
To commemorate the recent sesquicentennial of Charles Sumner’s death, this installment of “Civil War Treasures” features transcriptions of four of his letters held in the LSU Libraries Special Collections. Although not the most detailed of missives, they all date from significant periods of his tenure in the Senate: the imbroglio over the passage of ...

Stacking Pressure‐Driven Interfacial Dynamics in Anode‐Free Solid‐State Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a three‐electrode setup, it is found that stacking pressure improves both anode and cathode interfaces but more effectively stabilizes the anode. Under low pressure, a sudden anode resistance rise indicates contact loss. Higher pressure delays this via Li creep and plastic deformation, maintaining interfacial contact.
