Secure Enough? Sufficiency and Security in the New Geological and Geopolitical Reality

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article advances sufficiency theorizing by examining its relationship with security in the contemporary geopolitical context. It engages three contextually situated discourses: sustainable development, ecological civilization, and degrowth, to explore how concerns over ecological limits intersect with emerging geopolitical and security ...

Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Ammonia‐Based Reduction of Natural Hematite

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Ammonia is investigated as a carbon‐free hydrogen carrier for reducing natural hematite into metallic iron. Higher temperature and smaller particle size promote faster reduction, while ammonia dissociation generates hydrogen that indirectly drives the reduction reaction. At 850 °C, high reduction degrees and porous metallic iron structures are achieved,

Concrete in architecture: Redefining form, space, function, and insights from bibliometric analysis

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Concrete has become a cornerstone in architectural and engineering innovation, as it seamlessly integrates structural performance with artistic expression. Its evolution from ancient opus caementicium to contemporary ultra‐high‐performance concrete illustrates its adaptability to the change in technological, environmental, and design paradigms.

Advancing Biomass Valorization via Electrocatalytic Oxidation: Design Principles, Emerging Challenges, and Future Perspectives

open access: yesSusMat, EarlyView.
This review categorizes substrates for electrocatalytic biomass valorization by carbon chain length into C2–C3 alcohols, C5–C7 cyclic compounds, and Cn biopolymers. It identifies four universal catalyst design principles: optimizing intermediate adsorption, engineering synergistic multi‐type active sites, accelerating active‐site formation, and ...

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract External donors increasingly promote English as a notionally value‐neutral language of socioeconomic advancements in the Muslim South, overlooking local ideological diversities. Furthermore, national and Western forces deploy English as a tool to de‐Islamize madrasas (Islamic educational institutes) in the post‐9/11 world for global peace ...

Navigating Between the Scylla and Charybdis of Hype and Fear: Decolonizing ELT Materials Through Generative Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite calls from critical applied linguists to decolonize ELT materials that reproduce colonial ideologies, teachers working under neoliberal constraints and attendant time pressures often have to deliver textbook content as is rather than revising it.
