Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Favard classes and hyperbolic equations

open access: yes, 1996
To prove new regularity theorems for abstract Cauchy problems \[ u'(t)= \Lambda u(t)+ f(t),\quad t\geq 0,\quad \nu(0)= u_0,\tag{1} \] where \(\Lambda\) is generator of a strongly continuous semigroup (and even only a Hille-Yosida operator), the author uses a regularizing property of certain interpolation spaces, the theory of Hille-Yosida operators, a ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Multiple solutions for a class of Kirchhoff-type equation with critical growth

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
In this paper, we study the multiplicity of solutions to a class of Kirchhoff-type equation with critical growth $$ -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^3}|\nabla u|^2dx\right)\Delta u+V(x)u=\lambda h(x)f(u)+g(x)u^5 \quad \mbox{in }\mathbb{R}^3, $$ where $a$, $b ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.
