The effect of activator treatment on Class II malocclusions

American Journal of Orthodontics, 1979
Abstract It was the purpose of this investigation to study the effect of activator treatment of Class II malocclusions in the mixed-dentition period. A group of treated patients was compared with a similar group of untreated Class II malocclusion patients.

A novel method for the treatment of Class II malocclusion

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2020
Growth modification is a feasible approach for the treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusion. A positive association was found between the lateral functional shift of the mandible due to occlusal prematurities and skeletal changes. This finding is reminiscent of an equivalent anteroposterior skeletal effect of the anterior functional shift of the ...

Classification and treatment of Class II subdivision malocclusions

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2014
Patients with Class II subdivision malocclusions are a challenge for clinicians because reestablishing symmetry in 1 arch or both arches is often a treatment goal. In patients with mandibular skeletal asymmetry, surgery is often a treatment option. However, patients may be unwilling to undergo surgery, and other options might have to be considered. The

Response to activator treatment in Class II malocclusions

American Journal of Orthodontics, 1985
A clinical study was designed to disclose the effects of activator treatment in the correction of Class II malocclusions. The rationale for the use of the activator appliance was based on the premise that correction of distocclusion can be achieved by inhibition of forward growth of the maxilla, inhibition of mesial migration of maxillary teeth ...

Prosthodontic rehabilitation of patients with class II malocclusions

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1990
The Angle's class II malocclusion patient challenges the prosthodontist because optimal treatment may include orthodontic therapy, orthognathic surgery, periodontics, and fixed or removable prosthodontics. Compromises in the treatment plan are necessary when patients cannot accept optimal dental treatment.

Thoughts on the early treatment of Class II malocclusion

Clinical Orthodontics and Research, 1998
The timing of Class II, division 1 malocclusion treatment is discussed in the context of the development of the dentition within the craniofacial environment. The occlusion of the dentition actually serves as the key that controls and maintains the exact position of the mandible vis‐à‐vis the maxilla during childhood, pubescence and throughout ...

Dentoalveolar rotation in correction of Class II malocclusion

American Journal of Orthodontics, 1978
A recent orthodontic investigation reports that Class II dentofacial problems may be termed a syndrome and, further, reported an estimated 128 possible subdivisions within the Class II umbrella.’ Most clinicians are aware of this intragroup variability, as evidenced by the array of differential analyses, multiplicity of treatment plans, and ...

Treatment of a Class II malocclusion with deep overbite

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2002
Facially, the patient appeared symmetrical, with normal lip competence and full display of incisors on smile (Fig 1). She had a convex profile with a retruded chin. She had a Class II Division 1 malocclusion with 5.0 mm overjet and 100% palatally impinging overbite (Figs 2 and 3).

[Class II Angle malocclusions frequency and comparison with malocclusions].

Revista medico-chirurgicala a Societatii de Medici si Naturalisti din Iasi, 2011
This study, based on a survey of 1018 children, aged between 6-13 years, from urban and rural areas, aims at estimating the frequency of malocclusions among those patients who required specialized orthodontic treatment. Early developmental traits in Class II malocclusion

Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1998
The occlusal traits of Class II occlusion in the deciduous dentition include distal terminal plane of the second deciduous molars, distal canine relation, large overjet, and large overbite. Other findings are narrow upper dental arch and maxillary base and poor anterior spacing. Skeletally, Class II children differ less from normal children.
