A type of “single” class estimators

USSR Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1973
Abstract A type of estimators for Monte Carlo evaluation of functionals of the solution of an integral equation of the second kind is investigated. The expression for the variance is analyzed and two examples are considered.

A General Class of Unbiased Estimators of a Parameter

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1993
In this note an attempt has been made to develop a class of unbiased estimators for an unknown parameter. Several estimators can be shown as a direct result of the proposed class.

On a class of nonlinear estimation problems

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1964
The 'noise-in-noise' problem is viewed as an estimation problem rather than a detection problem. Specifically, this is the problem of estimating the random scale parameter 'a' from observations x(t) , where x(t) = aS(t) + N(t) \mbox{0 \leq t \leq T \leq \infty} . Here, S(t) and N(t) are Gaussian processes with known covariances. The optimal mean-square

The Existence of Moments of k-Class Estimators

Econometrica, 1980
For the regression equation C = A,B + e where A is a p x q stochastic matrix whose elements are independently distributed and contemporaneously correlated with the elements of 8, the lth moment of the least squares estimator of (3 exists if and only if l < p - q + 1.

Parametric Models for Estimating the Number of Classes

Biometrical Journal, 2008
AbstractWe consider parametric distributions intended to model heterogeneity in population size estimation, especially parametric stochastic abundance models for species richness estimation. We briefly review (conditional) maximum likelihood estimation of the number of species, and summarize the results of fitting 7 candidate models to frequency‐count ...

Signal class estimation using MLM

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The authors begin with a review of estimation using signal classes. They then show that certain spectral estimation procedures can be viewed as methods of estimating a signal class from data. Given a signal class, it is then possible to estimate signal parameters other than the magnitude of the spectrum, such as phase or missing data points. >

On estimation of a class of nonlinear systems by the kernel regression estimate

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1990
The estimation of a multiple-input single-output discrete Hammerstein system is studied. Such a system contains a nonlinear memoryless subsystem followed by a dynamic linear subsystem. The impulse response of the dynamic linear subsystem is obtained by the correlation method. The main results concern the estimation of the nonlinear memoryless subsystem.

A ZERO DENSITY ESTIMATE FOR THE SELBERG CLASS

International Journal of Number Theory, 2007
It is well known that bounds on moments of a specific L-function can lead to zero-density result for that L-function. In this paper, we generalize this argument to all L-functions in the Selberg class by assuming a certain second power moment. As an application, it is shown that in the case of symmetric-square L-function, this result improves the ...
