A Time‐Continuous Model of the 3D Ionospheric Current System and Associated Magnetic Fields in the Diurnal Variation Band

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Ionospheric currents and their associated magnetic perturbations are difficult to predict due to the high variability of their driving mechanisms. In addition, the 3D structure of the currents is challenging to unravel due to the lack of direct observations within the current flow region, particularly in the E $E$‐layer.

The Dirac equation, the concept of quanta, and the description of interactions in quantum electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this article the Dirac equation is used as a guideline to the historical emergence of the concept of quanta, associated with the quantum field.

Quantum-Classical Correspondence in Nonrelativistic Electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A form of classical electrodynamic field exists which gives exact agreement with the operator field of quantum electrodynamics (QED) for the Lamb shift of a harmonically bound point electron. Here it is pointed out that this form of classical theory with

Nighttime Westward Equatorial Electrojet Observed During the January 2026 Geomagnetic Storm

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract The equatorial electrojet (EEJ) is a narrow band of zonal electric current flowing in the E‐region ionosphere within approximately ±2° $\pm 2{}^{\circ}$ latitude of the magnetic equator. At night, the EEJ is generally considered very weak because of low ionospheric conductivity.

Ionospheric Mechanisms Leading to Plasma‐Bubble Zonal Drift Reversal and Deformation During the 12 November 2025 Geomagnetic Storm

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract We present a multi‐instrument analysis of the ionospheric response to the intense geomagnetic storm of 12 November 2025 over the American sector, with emphasis on the longitudinally asymmetric deformation, latitudinal expansion, and zonal drift reversal of equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs).

Photons and temporality in quantum electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The lowest order processes described within quantum electrodynamics are free from the problem with infinities in the theory, and can be dealt with disregarding the need for charge and mass renormalization.

Thermospheric Neutral Species Reduced Order Probabilistic Emulator: Dimensionality Reduction

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract One area of significant interest for space operations is the application of physics‐based thermosphere models for accurate drag modeling. However, their computational complexity limits their use in operational settings. To address this, recently developed reduced‐order probabilistic emulators (ROPE) based on the Thermosphere‐Ionosphere ...

Bridging quantum noise and classical electrodynamics with stochastic methods

open access: yesNature Communications
The development of emerging technologies in quantum optics demands accurate models that faithfully capture genuine quantum effects. Mature semiclassical approaches reach their limits when confronted with quantized electromagnetic fields, while full ...

Analysis of the Geomagnetic Storm of May 2024 at Ebre and Livingston Island Observatories and of the GICs Generated in the Spanish Power Transmission Grid

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract This study analyzes the 10–12 May 2024 geomagnetic storm using data from the Ebre (Spain) and Livingston Island (Antarctica) geomagnetic observatories, together with modeling approaches to assess its impact on the Spanish power transmission grid.
