Comment on the paper by Rovelli & al. about the compatibility of various "gauge conditions" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The compatibility "demonstrated" by Rovelli & al. between various "gauge conditions" both in Classical Electromagnetism and General Relativity can be better understood if one distinguishes "gauge conditions" of the solution type and "gauge conditions" of

Biological and Biologically Inspired Functional Nanostructures: Insights into Structural, Optical, Thermal, and Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biological and biologically‐inspired functional nanostructures with structural, thermal, optical, and sensing applications are reviewed. The role of nanoscale features in biological materials on performance is described, and their blueprints are used for bio‐inspired nanomaterials, synthesized using advanced techniques (i.e., photolithography, bio ...

Classical observables using exponentiated spin factors: electromagnetic scattering

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In [1], the authors argued that the Newman-Janis algorithm on the space of classical solutions in general relativity and electromagnetism could be used in the space of scattering amplitudes to map an amplitude with external scalar states to an amplitude ...

Gravitation and Electromagnetism

open access: yes, 2016
The realms of gravitation, belonging to Classical Physics, and Electromagnetism, belonging to the Theory of the Electron and Quantum Mechanics have remained apart as two separate pillars, inspite of a century of effort by Physicists to reconcile them. In

On the completeness of classical electromagnetism

open access: yes, 2006
The possibility of an incompletness of the equations of electromagnetism is analyzed using a thought experiment that shows a non-physical behavior according to classical electromagnetism. Basically, from Maxwell equations it is shown that a particular passive, isolated circuit could present a transient growth of its currents. Resolution of this problem

Recent Advances in Reactive Microdroplets for Clean Water and Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive microdroplets enable precise and sustainable chemistry at small scales. This review explores their role as confined reactors and dynamic interfaces for synthesizing functional materials, fuels, and microdevices. It offers a critical perspective on how droplet‐based platforms can drive next‐generation technologies in clean energy, environmental

Pauli–Villars regularization elucidated in Bopp–Podolsky’s generalized electrodynamics

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2019
We discuss an inherent Pauli–Villars regularization in Bopp–Podolsky’s generalized electrodynamics. Introducing gauge-fixing terms for Bopp–Podolsky’s generalized electrodynamic action, we realize a unique feature for the corresponding photon propagator ...

Shapeshifting Nanocatalyst for CO2 Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multi‐modal in situ characterization of Ag‐Cu nanoparticles during CO2 photoreduction sheds light on dynamic transformations occurring during reaction. The Cu(core)‐Ag(shell) nanoparticles present the Ag replacement by Cu atoms. Ag is trapped at the subsurface forming a Ag‐Cu‐O phase, and the nanoparticle spreads over the substrate.
