Laboratory Studies of the Self and Cross Reactions of Atmospheric Peroxy Radicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
My studies focused on the self and cross reactions of peroxy radicals (RO₂). These are important gas phase reactions in the atmosphere when concentrations of nitrogen oxides are low.

Cysteine Redox State Governs the Condensation Pathway of Hendra Virus W Protein and Differentially Impacts Type I IFN and NF‐κB Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cysteine redox state of the Hendra virus W (WHeV) protein controls assembly into fibrils or amorphous aggregates, with residues 2–29 required for fibrillation. In cells, WHeV forms different types of nuclear condensates. Impaired ability to form redox‐sensitive, non‐filamentous condensates reduces WHeV inhibition of the NF‐κB pathway, while it ...

Polysiloxane‐Based Single‐Ion Conducting Polymer Electrolyte for Sodium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a polysiloxane‐based single‐ion conducting polymer electrolyte for sodium batteries. This polymer electrolyte exhibits high Na+ ion mobility and a wide electrochemical stability window, enabling the long‐term stable cycling of various cathode chemistries – also at room temperature, elevated dis‐/charge rates and active material mass loadings,

Physics‐Constrained Constitutive Learning of Rate‐Limiting Timescales for Efficient Hydrogen‐Based Direct Reduction for Green Steel Making

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A conversion‐resolved constitutive framework is developed for the hydrogen‐based direct reduction of iron oxide pellets. Effective reaction and transport timescales are inferred directly from measured trajectories and mapped against operating conditions, pellet architecture, and composition. The analysis reveals how late‐stage transport control emerges

Oxygen exchange in uranyl hydroxide via two "nonclassical" ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A recently proposed pathway for the scrambling of axial (uranyl) and equatorial 0 atoms in [UO2(OH)4]2- (1) is refined using Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics (CPMD) simulations in an explicit solvent (water) and with model counterions (NH4+).

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

Unraveling the flavin-catalyzed photooxidation of benzylic alcohol with transient absorption spectroscopy from sub-pico- to microseconds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Flavin-mediated photooxidations have been described for applications in synthetic organic chemistry for some time and are claimed to be a route to the use of solar energy.
