Classical guitar construction: The acoustician’s tale

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
The vast majority of guitars produced today are built according to general principles laid down in the nineteenth century. Nevertheless, the devil is in the detail, and innovative makers constantly reappraise the design and construction of instruments in their endeavors to control quality or to seek ‘‘improvement.’’ The maker’s approach, necessarily ...

Sound designing classical guitars through metamaterials

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America
An approach is presented to alter the sound of a classical guitar using a metamaterial structure. By adding additional masses using magnets in a row between the bridge and the soundhole, a bandgap of around 300 Hz appears. Alternation of magnet masses and placement determine the location and strength of the bandgap.

Evaluating design modifications in classical guitars.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
The structure and musical usage of the classical guitar has changed considerably over its long history and the instrument still continues to develop. Major the changes in construction of guitars in the latter part of the nineteenth century and changes in their playing style helped establish the classical guitar as a serious solo instrument, which still

Vibration measurements in the classical guitar

Applied Acoustics, 2002
Abstract Some measurements are described that pertain to the high frequency behaviour of the vibrations of the string and soundboard of the guitar.Three isolated soundboards of different woods were compared with respect to their early decay times (by means of measurements of their vibrational impulse responses), in order to assess its possible use as

Identifying Attack Articulations in Classical Guitar

2011
The study of musical expressivity is an active field in sound and music computing. The research interest comes from different motivations: to understand or model music expressivity; to identify the expressive resources that characterize an instrument, musical genre, or performer; or to build synthesis systems able to play expressively.

CLASSICAL GUITAR LEFT HAND TECHNIQUES

2016
