Mathematical model for elastic beams with longitudinally variable depth [PDF]
In this work we introduce a new mathematical model for elastic beams with a cross-section of constant width and longitudinally variable depth, obtained from the classical three-dimensional linear elasticity problem by using an asymptotic expansion ...

Dynamic examination of closed cylindrical shells utilizing the differential transform method
This article presents an innovative approach using the Differential Transform Method (DTM) to analyze the vibration characteristics of cylindrical shells, integrating Taylor's series with Sander's classical theory.

Second gradient thermoelasticity with microtemperatures
This research was concerned with a linear theory of thermoelasticity with microtemperatures where the second thermal displacement gradient and the second gradient of microtemperatures are included in the classical set of independent constitutive ...

Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Modeling of grain boundary dynamics using amplitude equations
We discuss the modelling of grain boundary dynamics within an amplitude equations description, which is derived from classical density functional theory or the phase field crystal model.

This is the second part of a short three-paper series, aiming to revisit some classical concepts of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics. Being the intermediate step of the analysis between infinite domains (discussed in Part-I) and finite bodies (that will be discussed analytically in the third part of the series), the present part offers an alternative ...

In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.

Real wave propagation in the isotropic relaxed micromorphic model
For the recently introduced isotropic relaxed micromorphic generalized continuum model, we show that under the assumption of positive definite energy, planar harmonic waves have real velocity.
