A Categorical Framework for Quantum Theory

open access: yes, 2009
Underlying any theory of physics is a layer of conceptual frames. They connect the mathematical structures used in theoretical models with physical phenomena, but they also constitute our fundamental assumptions about reality.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Smooth Path between the Classical Realm and the Quantum Realm

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
A simple example of classical physics may be defined as classical variables, p and q, and quantum physics may be defined as quantum operators, P and Q.

Classical Cepheid Pulsation Models: IX. New Input Physics

open access: yes, 2003
We constructed several sequences of classical Cepheid envelope models at solar chemical composition ($Y=0.28, Z=0.02$) to investigate the dependence of the pulsation properties predicted by linear and nonlinear hydrodynamical models on input physics.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Measurement Theory, Nomological Machine And Measurement Uncertainties (In Classical Physics)

open access: yesStudia Philosophica Estonica, 2012
Measurement is said to be the basis of exact sciences as the process of assigning numbers to matter (things or their attributes), thus making it possible to apply the mathematically formulated laws of nature to the empirical world.

Role of analogies with classical physics in introductory quantum physics teaching

open access: yesPhysical Review Physics Education Research
In this study, we explore the use of analogies with classical physics in introductory quantum physics (QP) teaching. This work is part of a larger project in which a learning sequence covering three introductory QP topics was designed, tested, and ...

Non-Destructive, Specular Laser Reflectometry and X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis Applied to Coins of the Gallic Roman Empire

open access: yesHeritage
Non-destructive, specular laser reflectometry, an industrially used and easily accessible method, is adapted in numismatic research to the inspection of coins of the Gallic Roman Empire with the objective of the allocation of mints and/or the ...

A Gravitational Explanation for Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
It is shown that certain structures in classical General Relativity can give rise to non-classical logic, normally associated with Quantum Mechanics. A 4-geon model of an elementary particle is proposed which is asymptotically flat, particle-like and has

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
