Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Odd Log-Logistic XGamma Model: Bayesian and Classical Estimation with Risk Analysis Utilizing Reinsurance Revenues Data

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
Effective risk exposure descriptions can be made using continuous distributions. To illustrate the level of exposure to a certain danger, it is better to use a single number, or at the very least, a small set of numbers.

Modeling and Fusing the Uncertainty of FMEA Experts Using an Entropy-Like Measure with an Application in Fault Evaluation of Aircraft Turbine Rotor Blades

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
As a typical tool of risk analysis in practical engineering, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) theory is a well known method for risk prediction and prevention.

Identifying novel mechanisms of biallelic TP53 loss refines poor outcome for patients with multiple myeloma

open access: yesBlood Cancer Journal, 2023
Biallelic TP53 inactivation is the most important high-risk factor associated with poor survival in multiple myeloma. Classical biallelic TP53 inactivation has been defined as simultaneous mutation and copy number loss in most studies; however, numerous ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Advantages of Accounting for Stochasticity in the Premium Process

open access: yesRisks
In this paper, we study a risk model with stochastic premium income and its impact on solvency risk management. It is assumed that both the premium arrival process and the claim arrival process are modelled by homogeneous Poisson processes, and that the ...

Infinite time ruin probability in inhomogeneous claims case

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2010
The article deals with the classical discrete-time risk model with non-identically distributed claims. The recursive formula of infinite time ruin probability is obtained, which enables to evaluate the probability to ruin with desired accuracy.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Semiparametric estimation in the optimal dividend barrier for the classical risk model [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Actuarial Journal, 2018
In the context of an insurance portfolio which provides dividend income for the insurance company’s shareholders, an important problem in risk theory is how the premium income will be paid to the s...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
