Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Memorial to the Classical Statistics

Bell System Technical Journal, 1943
ONE of the most elusive and perplexing, hazy and confusing of the parts of theoretical physics is that which bears the name of “statistical mechanics”.∗ On the principle that a tree is to be judged by its fruits, this must be ranked as high as the tree which bore the golden apples of the Hesperides; for among its fruits are the Maxwell-Boltzmann ...

Classical Statistics

2013
All hurricanes are different. Statistics helps you characterize hurricanes from the typical to the extreme. In this chapter, we provide an introduction to classical (or frequentist) statistics. To get the most out of it, we again encourage you to open an R session and type in the code as you read along. Descriptive statistics are used to summarize your

Classical model of intermediate statistics

Physical Review E, 1994
In this work we present a classical kinetic model of intermediate statistics. In the case of Brownian particles we show that the Fermi-Dirac (FD) and Bose-Einstein (BE) distributions can be obtained, just as the Maxwell-Boltzmann (MB) distribution, as steady states of a classical kinetic equation that intrinsically takes into account an exclusion ...

Classical versus Bayesian Statistics

Philosophy of Science, 2020
In statistics, there are two main paradigms: classical and Bayesian statistics. The purpose of this article is to investigate the extent to which classicists and Bayesians can (in some suitable sense of the word) agree. My conclusion is that, in certain situations, they cannot. The upshot is that, if we assume that the classicist is not allowed to have

States of Classical Statistical Mechanics

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1967
A state of an infinite system in classical statistical mechanics is usually described by its correlation functions. We discuss here other descriptions in particular: as (1) a state on a B* algebra; (2) a collection of density distributions; (3) a field theory; (4) a measure on a ``space of configurations of infinitely many particles.'' We consider the ...
