Real representations of finite Clifford algebras. I. Classification

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1991
A classification of real matrix irreducible representations of finite-dimensional real Clifford algebras has been made. In contrast to the case of complex representation, three distinct types of representations can be obtained which we call normal, almost complex, and quaternionic.

Classification and Representation of the Clifford Algebras

2016
AbstractIn this chapter, the classification and representation of Clifford algebras are introduced and discussed. Some important theorems regarding the structure of Clifford algebras are presented; later on, these are used for the classification and construction of the representations of the Clifford algebras as well. The periodicity theorems and their

On the classification of Clifford algebras and their relation to spinors in n dimensions

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1982
A classification of all the Clifford algebras is given in terms of Kronecker products of the quaternion and dihedral groups. The relationship to spinors in n dimensions is explicitly determined. We show that the real Clifford algebra in Minkowski spacetime is distinct from both the algebra of Dirac matrices and the algebra of Majorana matrices, and ...

Matrix Representations and Classifications of Clifford Algebras

1997
Abstract In the first nine chapters, the intimate connection between differential geometry and Clifford algebra has been emphasized. However, some physicists have found applications for Clifford algebras which are virtually divorced from any underlying geometry.

Clifford Algebras, Projective Representations and Classification of Fundamental Particles

1986
We discuss the use of Clifford Algebras in the classification of elementary particles as an alternative to the use of unitary Lie groups as internal symmetry groups, their physical interpretation and advantages. The relation of Clifford algebras to the projective representations of finite groups is given.
