The effects of social environment on standing behavior and the development of claw horn lesions
The primary aim of this prospective experimental study was to evaluate how the social environment after calving influenced standing behavior in primiparous cows. At calving, primiparous cows were mixed with familiar peers in a low-stocked pen (≤33% stocking density; n = 22) or mixed with unknown older cows at 100% stocking density (n = 20).

Factors associated with claw lesions in gestating sows
Objective: To characterize claw lesions and to analyze the factors associated with types of claw lesions in sows. Methods: Claw lesions were scored for 184 sows in farrowing stalls on day 110 of gestation, and associations with body condition (body weight and backfat thickness on day 109 of gestation), parity, gestation housing system, and lameness ...

Analysis of behavioral changes in dairy cows associated with claw horn lesions [PDF]
Detecting lame cows is important in improving animal welfare. Automated tools are potentially useful to enable identification and monitoring of lame cows. The goals of this study were to evaluate the suitability of various physiological and behavioral parameters to automatically detect lameness in dairy cows housed in a cubicle barn.

Abstract Hyperodapedontine rhynchosaurs possessed a unique oral apparatus, long interpreted as an adaptation for processing abrasive and resistant plant material. However, the microanatomical and histological evidence supporting this interpretation remains poorly documented.

Gradual Growth of Several Claw Traits and Claw Lesions in Dairy Cows after Hoof Trimming
Several claw measurements, horn growth and wear were recorded monthly in a research farm to investigate the effect of solid concrete floor and gradual growth of these traits over 3 month after trimming. Two methods of hoof trimming were used: Standard Dutch (STD) and hollow (HOL).
