Nasal soft‐tissue anatomy of Triceratops and other horned dinosaurs
Abstract Although ceratopsid dinosaurs possess a characteristically hypertrophied narial region, soft‐tissue anatomy associated with such a skeletal structure and their biological significance remain poorly understood. The present study provides the first comprehensive hypothesis on the soft‐tissue anatomy in the ceratopsid rostrum based on the Extant ...

Sealing of fractures in claystone
AbstractThe sealing behavior of fractures in clay rocks for deep disposal of radioactive waste has been comprehensively investigated at the GRS laboratory. Various sealing experiments were performed on strongly cracked samples of different sizes from the Callovo-Oxfordian argillite and the Opalinus clay under relevant repository conditions.

Integrated petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical data from the Hastanetepe Pb–Zn deposit (Balya, Türkiye) reveal multi‐stage hydrothermal alteration and a magmatic sulphur source. Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope results indicate a complex fluid evolution responsible for skarn‐type Pb–Zn mineralization along limestone–dacite contacts ...

ABSTRACT Background Urban trees provide essential ecosystem services, but their growth and longevity are often limited by soil compaction. Although pneumatic lance injection (PLI) is increasingly promoted as a minimally invasive and efficient soil loosening technique, but robust scientific evidence for its long‐term effectiveness remains limited.

This study reports two isolated feather fossils from the Lower Cretaceous Dabeigou Formation in northeastern China. Morphological analyses identified them as the earliest known feathered theropods (potentially including avian) in the Jehol Biota. This finding reveals a complex ecosystem at the dawn of the Jehol Biota, bridging the temporal and faunal ...

The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman
ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.
