Multi-Scale CLEAN deconvolution of radio synthesis images
Radio synthesis imaging is dependent upon deconvolution algorithms to counteract the sparse sampling of the Fourier plane. These deconvolution algorithms find an estimate of the true sky brightness from the necessarily incomplete sampled visibility data.

A new approach to multi-frequency synthesis in radio interferometry
We present a new approach to multi-frequency synthesis in radio astronomy. Using Bayesian inference techniques, the new technique estimates the sky brightness and the spectral index simultaneously.

VADER - A Satellite Mission Concept For High Precision Dark Energy Studies [PDF]
We present a satellite mission concept to measure the dark energy equation of state parameter w with percent-level precision. The Very Ambitious Dark Energy Research satellite (VADER) is a multi-wavelength survey mission joining X-ray, optical, and IR ...

Monitoring of snow surface near-infrared bidirectional reflectance factors with added light-absorbing particles [PDF]
Broadband snow albedo can range from 0.3 to 0.9 depending on microphysical properties and light-absorbing particle (LAP) concentrations. Beyond the widely observed direct and visibly apparent effect of darkening snow, it is still unclear how LAPs ...

Compact groups in theory and practice -- IV. The connection to large-scale structure
We investigate the properties of photometrically-selected compact groups (CGs) in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. In this paper, the fourth in a series, we focus on understanding the characteristics of our observed CG sample with particular attention paid ...

PPAK Wide-field Integral Field Spectroscopy of NGC 628: I. The largest spectroscopic mosaic on a single galaxy [PDF]
We present a wide-field IFS survey on the nearby face-on Sbc galaxy NGC 628, comprising 11094 individual spectra, covering a nearly circular field-of-view of ~6 arcmin in diameter, with a sampling of ~2.7 arcsec per spectrum in the optical wavelength ...

A new map-making algorithm for CMB polarisation experiments
With the temperature power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) at least four orders of magnitude larger than the B-mode polarisation power spectrum, any instrumental imperfections that couple temperature to polarisation must be carefully ...

Regional validation of the solar irradiance tool SolaRes in clear-sky conditions, with a focus on the aerosol module [PDF]
The Solar Resource estimate (SolaRes) tool based on the Speed-up Monte Carlo Advanced Radiative Transfer code using GPU (SMART-G) has the ambition to fulfil both research and industrial applications by providing accurate, precise, and high-time ...
