Ultra‐White Elastomeric Coatings for Daytime Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Passive daytime radiative cooling meets elasticity in a new class of ultra‐white silicone coatings. Combining high solar reflectance with strong sky‐window emission, they hold surfaces below ambient temperature under full sunlight while remaining flexible and stretchable. This combination of cooling performance and mechanical flexibility enables energy‐

High Throughput Aerosol Jet Printing to Operationalize High Aspect Ratio Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
High‐throughput aerosol jet printing poses distinct limiting mechanisms to the printing process. These include rapidly changing ink chemistries, atomization instabilities, and liquid‐phase spreading. The combination of in‐line heating, process monitoring, and traditional optimization procedures enables rapid printing of high‐aspect‐ratio structures ...

Clear Sky Optimization

open access: yes
This paper proposes a heuristic optimization algorithm based on the natural phenomenon of "clear skies," namely the Clear Sky Optimization (CSO) algorithm. The algorithm's core innovation lies in the introduction of a dynamic halo guidance mechanism and a hierarchical breeze perturbation mechanism to achieve a balance between global exploration and ...

Electrohydrodynamically Driven Broadband and Color‐Shifting in Cholesteric Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Ion‐driven electrohydrodynamic effects enable dynamic photonic bandgap modulation in cholesteric liquid crystals under low‐frequency AC driving. By regulating ion‐mediated disturbance of the helical structure, this approach produces two reversible optical responses: rapid color shifting across the visible spectrum and broadband reflection spanning the ...

Spectral Condensing of All‐Dielectric Structural Colors via Cascaded Formation of Self‐Similar Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Standalone low‐index microscale ridges (MRs) are promising platforms for all‐dielectric structural color generation. They are compact and easy to fabricate, but their color purity trails behind that of resonator‐ or periodic pattern‐based structural color pixels.

A Physically Inspired Model for Estimating Clear-Sky Solar Irradiance

open access: yesAnnals of West University of Timisoara: Physics
The estimation of solar irradiance under clear sky conditions is still a research topic. Many times, accessible empirical models are applied in practice, even if more uncertainty is expected than in the case of complex models.

Enhanced Operational Stability of Carbene‐Metal‐Amide Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes by Reducing Electron Accumulation on the Emitter

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Carbene‐metal‐amide (CMA) organic LEDs suffer from poor stability despite submicrosecond excited‐state lifetimes. Here, we show that electron accumulation on CMA emitters triggers bond cleavage, while poor electron transport amplifies OLED instability.

Micromachined Double‐Membrane Mechanically Tunable Metamaterial for Thermal Infrared Filtering

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Herein, a mechanically tunable double‐layer plasmonic metamaterial leveraging the extraordinary optical transmission effect observed in subwavelength arrays of openings within thin metal layers is presented. The concept is experimentally validated by integrating the proposed metamaterial structure into an electrostatic parallel‐plate actuator to create
