Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma
Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 2005Clear cell RCC is the most common type of RCC that occurs in adults. It has the worst prognosis among the common epithelial tumors of the kidney. Histologically, a wide range of morphologic patterns can be encountered. Those cases with a multi-locular cystic architecture are considered to be a distinct subtype because of the clinicopathologic features.

Renal cell carcinomas (RCC) are well-vascularized tumors. Although clear cell RCC (CCRCC) show a characteristic vascular network, some cases show overlapping features with other RCC. We aimed to evaluate vascular architectural patterns, microvessel density (MVD), and endothelial cell density (ECD) in CCRCC compared to clear cell papillary RCC (ccpRCC).

Biomarkers in clear cell renal cell carcinoma
Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy, 2007The treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has evolved significantly following the identification of the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene and the function of its protein, and subsequent development of antiangiogenic therapies. A series of clinical trials resulted in the approval of three new agents with significant activity in this disease ...

Misdiagnosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma
Nature Reviews Urology, 2011Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) represents the most common histological subtype of malignant kidney tumors. Based on symptoms alone, clear cell RCC is indistinguishable from other histological classes of RCC unless the tumor is present in the context of an RCC syndrome. Histopathological examination is, therefore, important to accurately identify

Cell heterogeneity in clear cell renal cell carcinoma
APMIS, 2013The aim of this study was to define the histological spectrum, frequency and significance of nonconventional tumour cells in clear cell renal cell carcinomas (CCRCC). Fifty‐one totally sampled CCRCC were studied histologically to evaluate the spectrum of cell morphology variability, its frequency and significance, and their correlation with tumour ...
