Structure-activity correlations among analogs of the currant clearwing moth pheromone

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1993
Eleven analogs of (E,Z)-2,13-octadecadien-1-yl acetate1, a main pheromone component of the currant clearwing moth,Synanthedon tipuliformis Clerk (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae) were synthesized and tested for their biological activities by electroantennography (EAG).

Sex Pheromone of the Smaller Clearwing Moth Synanthedon tenuis (Butler)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2012
The smaller clearwing moth, Synanthedon tenuis (Butler) (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae), is a major pest of persimmon in northeast Asia. A previous study reported attraction of S. tenuis males to Z3,Z13-18:OAc, but this compound had no effect on male catch in the persimmon orchards in Korea. In this study, we analyzed pheromone gland extracts of S.

Identification of the Sex Pheromone of the Western Poplar Clearwing Moth (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae)

Environmental Entomology, 1996
The sex attractant pheromone for western poplar clearwing, Paranthrene robiniae (Hy. Edwards), was identified by field trapping, gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and electroantennography to be approximately a 4:1 ratio of ( E ,Z):(Z,Z)-3, 13-octadecadienyl alcohols. Efficient attraction of male P. robiniae requires that both alcohol components be

Controlling Banded Ash Clearwing Moth Borer using Entomopathogenic Nematodes

Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1994
AbstractThe banded ash clearwing moth,Podosesia aureocincta, in 24 green ash growing in a nursery were treated with the nematode,Steinernema carpocapsae(strain 25) at two different rates. Eight infested green ash were controls in the field trial. Nematodes were applied in July using a backpack sprayer.
