Umkehr Maps Patched via the Compactified Cleavage Operad [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Via a compactification of the cleavage operad, we describe two actions on the mapping spaces from spheres into compact, oriented manifolds. The map from the compactified version of the cleavage operad provides a version of intersection theory along the underlying base manifold lifted to the mapping space.

Deep learning mediated single time-point image-based prediction of embryo developmental outcome at the cleavage stage [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In conventional clinical in-vitro fertilization practices embryos are transferred either at the cleavage or blastocyst stages of development. Cleavage stage transfers, particularly, are beneficial for patients with relatively poor prognosis and at fertility centers in resource-limited settings where there is a higher chance of developmental failure in ...

Revisiting Fused‐Pyrrolo‐1,10‐Phenanthroline Derivatives: Novel Transformations and Stability Studies

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
The synthesis of new pyrrolo[3',4':3,4]pyrrolo[1,2‐a][1,10]phenanthroline derivatives is performed starting from [3+2] cycloaddition of in situ generated ylides, followed by cycloadducts oxidation and other transformations. The structures of the unexpected intermediates and final compounds are obtained from nuclear magnetic resonance and single‐crystal

Effect of tilt and twist angles on the cleavage crack propagation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We report the mechanism of cleavage crack deviation at grain boundaries. A fracture mechanics based model has been developed to combine the effect of tilt and twist angles between cleavage planes on the reduction in normalized energy release rate. Furthermore, electron back-scatter diffraction analysis on cleavage fracture surface has been carried out.

Semi-Automated Segmentation of Geoscientific Data Using Superpixels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Geological processes determine the distribution of resources such as critical minerals, water, and geothermal energy. However, direct observation of geology is often prevented by surface cover such as overburden or vegetation. In such cases, remote and in-situ surveys are frequently conducted to collect physical measurements of the earth indicative of ...

Influence of Carbon Material Properties on Slag‐Foaming Dynamics in Electric Arc Furnaces: A Review

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This article examines how the properties of the carbon materials affect the slag foaming, emphasizing the need for strategies to improve the effectiveness of biochar, such as pelletizing or blending with coke. Biocoke appears as promising but underexplored option for enhancing slag foaming.

Crystallographic Reconstruction Driven Modified Mechanical Properties in Anisotropic Rhenium Disulfides [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Atomic-scale investigation on mechanical behaviors is highly necessary to fully understand the fracture mechanics especially of brittle materials, which are determined by atomic-scale phenomena (e.g., lattice trapping). Here, exfoliated anisotropic rhenium disulfide (ReS2) flakes are used to investigate atomic-scale crack propagation depending on the ...

Synthesis and quantum crystallographic evaluation of WYLID: YLID's red rival

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
The synthesis and quantum crystallographic analysis of the chemical bonding within WYLID, 2‐(dimethyl‐λ4‐sulfaneylidene)‐[1,2′‐biindenylidene]‐1′,3,3′(2H)‐trione, a condensation product of YLID which is the most widely used calibrant for laboratory diffractometers, is presented.
