Activatable smart contrast agents for photoacoustic imaging

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in smart activatable photoacoustic imaging (PAI) contrast agents, which dynamically modulate their optical properties in response to external stimuli or microenvironmental cues. It discusses their molecular design, activation mechanisms, biomedical applications, and future prospects for clinically tailored use ...

Disulfide‐Assisted Organic Polysulfide Cathode Design Enables Improved Kinetics in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
This study synthesizes linear organic polysulfides with sulfur content exceeding 70 wt% via a radical reaction between sulfur and tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD). The material features a covalent R‐Sn‐R backbone, helps to suppress the shuttle effect and enhance kinetics. The TMTD‐S cathode demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 941 mAh g‐1 and ...

Noncollapsible, Meringue‐Structured Cathodes for a Volumetrically Efficient Li–S Battery

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
This work addresses the inherent volumetric and ion transport limitations of sulfur cathodes by tailoring a dense electrode microstructure. A mechanically robust protein‐foamed binder templates stable channels which maintain structural integrity during high‐pressure calendering, enabling significant densification without sacrificing ion transport.

1D and 3D Carbon Nanomaterials Derived from Zeolite‐Based Catalysts: Synthesis and Applications

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
Zeolites act as catalysts or catalytic templates to synthesize 1D and 3D carbon nanomaterials with uniform structures, enabled by their high surface area and uniform porous frameworks. The resulting carbon nanomaterials possess excellent surface area and electronic conductivity, supporting their use in energy storage, catalysis, electronics, gas ...
