A series of maize cytosine and adenine base editors was developed using various deaminase variants, enabling efficient multiplex genome editing in maize. Precise editing of the ZmACC1/2 genes generated herbicide‐tolerant maize germplasm, offering a solution for weed management in maize‐soybean intercropping systems.

Deep learning-based laser weed control compared to conventional herbicide application across three vegetable production systems. [PDF]
In 2024, trials in New Jersey and New York evaluated the effectiveness of laser weeding with a Carbon Robotics unit compared with herbicides on beets, spinach, and peas. Results demonstrated that laser weeding was as effective or superior to herbicides in controlling weeds, reducing biomass by ≥97% and boosting crop growth by ≥30%.

Poa annua becomes the first weed to evolve resistance to indaziflam applied preemergence and early-postemergence. [PDF]
We report the first confirmed global case of Poa annua evolving resistance to indaziflam applied both preemergence and early‐postemergence. Resistance intensified under cool temperatures, was not reversed by metabolic inhibitors, and was often linked to multiple resistance, underscoring urgent needs for integrated weed management.
