The predictability of western and eastern North Pacific blocking events is assessed using analogue‐based diagnostics. Eastern blocks exhibit lower predictability, characterized by faster error growth and higher mean logarithmic divergence rates. The study highlights geographical contrasts in blocking stability.

Forest influence on the surface water chemistry of granitic basins receiving acid precipitation in the Vosges massif, France [PDF]
This study shows the influence of acid rain on the chemistry of surface waters in two small basins. The basins present similar altitudes and climates, only one is forested, and the forest decline has been clearly established.

On the impact of transport model errors for the estimation of CO2 surface fluxes from GOSAT observations [PDF]
A series of observing system simulation experiments is presented in which column averaged dry air mole fractions of CO2 (XCO2) from the Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT) are made consistent or not with the transport model embedded in a flux ...

This work demonstrates the potential of the assimilation of satellite solar‐induced fluorescence (SIF) retrievals at eight‐day and 0.1° resolutions in the integrated forecast system (IFS), developed at the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), at global scale, to provide a more realistic representation of the vegetation temporal ...

Climate actions by climate and non-climate researchers
Abstract Tackling climate change requires both systemic changes and individual lifestyle changes. Are those best placed to understand the risks and solutions to climate change acting on their knowledge? In a large-scale study of N = 9220 researchers across 115 countries, we found that climate researchers reported engaging in considerably more advocacy ...

Tree canopy height is a key indicator of forest biomass and structure, yet accurate mapping across the Amazon remains challenging. Here, we generated a canopy height map of the Amazon forest at ~4.8 m resolution using Planet NICFI imagery and a deep learning U‐Net model trained with airborne LiDAR data.
