Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Integrating science and the arts to deglobalise climate change adaptation

open access: yesNature Communications
Setting goals that are context-specific, relevant, and collectively shared is critical in adaptation. As necessary elements in target setting, imaginaries for adaptation and the language connected to them remain vague.

Conditional attribution of cold extremes in Canada: The role of atmospheric circulation in a changing climate

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes
This study examines the influence of large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns, specifically the Pacific-North American (PNA), Asian-Bering-North American (ABNA), and North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) climate indices, on the likelihood of cold extremes

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

Electrostatically‐Stabilized PEG‐Free Lipid Nanoparticles for Systemic Nucleic Acid Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes non‐PEGylated layered lipid nanoparticles (nonPEG LLNPs), a gene delivery platform that improves upon standard PEGylated LNPs via electrostatic adsorption of charged polymers. nonPEG LLNPs maintain colloidal stability under biological stresses, enhance circulation time, and mitigate accelerated blood clearance and hepatic ...

Tuning Redox Dynamics in Cu‐Based Electrocatalysts: Effect of Secondary Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced analysis of operando X‐ray absorption spectroscopy data reveals that secondary metals affect the redox processes in Cu‐based catalysts for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction. This influences the amount of oxides formed under pulsed reaction conditions and the distribution of reaction products.

Oregon climate assessment report : December 2010 [PDF]

open access: yes
The group of scientists that make up the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found in 2007 that the warming of Earth’s climate is unequivocal and largely due to human activity.
