Where Most Frameworks Degrade: Flexible Bimetallic Phosphonate Crystals as pH‐Universal Supercapacitor Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plastically flexible single crystals of the bimetallic phosphonate framework [Cu(2,2′‐bpy)VO(O3PC6H5)2] combine mechanical adaptability with robust pseudocapacitive charge storage. The material delivers about 140 Fg−1 at pH 4 and pH 10 and remains stable across pH 2‐12, enabling energy storage under comparatively mild electrolyte conditions.

Intensifying Drought Patterns and Agricultural Water Stress in Erbil Governorate, Iraq: A Spatiotemporal Climate Analysis

open access: yesGlobal Challenges
Drought is a prolonged lack of rainfall that causes water shortages for agricultural land by reducing soil moisture and limiting crop yields. This study assesses the impacts of drought in Erbil, Iraq, using 28 years of data from the southern, central ...

Assessing homogeneity and climate variability of temperature and precipitation series in the capitals of northeastern Brazil

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2016
A 51-year dataset (1961 to 2011) from nine meteorological stations in the capitals of northeastern Brazil (NEB), with daily data of precipitation totals and of mean, minimum and maximum temperatures, was statistically analyzed for data homogeneity and ...

An In Situ Embedded B‐MOF Sponge With Shape‐Memory for All‐in‐One Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A smart shape‐memory sponge dressing (P1A3@B‐MOF) is developed for accelerated diabetic wound healing. It achieves pH‐responsive corelease of Zn2+ and salvianolic acid B, synergistically providing antibacterial action, repolarizing macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and promoting angiogenesis.

Oxygen Supply of Islets of Langerhans by Photosynthetically Active Microalgae in Bioprinted Co‐Cultures Maintains Their Function in a Hypoxic Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

Climate-Smart Agriculture Indicators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
There is by now substantial consensus within the development community over the need for a more climate smart agriculture, which consists of three defining principles: enhancing agriculture’s resilience to climate change, reducing agricultural green-house gas emissions, and sustainably ...

High Light Utilization and Color Rendering in Vacuum‐Deposited Semitransparent Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low bandgap (≈1.55 eV) semitransparent perovskite solar cells (ST‐PSCs) having thin (thickness < ≈100 nm) perovskite layers and transparent conductive oxide‐based rear electrodes are fabricated using vacuum‐deposition methods. Two different ST‐PSCs demonstrated a high light utilization efficiency value of 4.2 (PCE: 9.26% and AVT: 45.3 ...

SOILS AS INDICATORS OF CLIMATIC CHANGES

open access: yesGEOGRAPHY, ENVIRONMENT, SUSTAINABILITY, 2012
A number of examples for the reaction of chernozems in the center of the East European Plain and their relation to different periodical climatic changes are examined. According to unequal-age chernozems properties, the transition from the Middle Holocene arid conditions to the Late Holocene wet conditions occurred at 4000 yr BP.
