Heat Response of Global Vegetation Biomes to Ongoing Climate Warming Based on Remote Sensing

open access: yesGeosciences, 2017
Research is needed by global change scientists on how global vegetation biomes respond to ongoing climate warming. To address this issue, we selected study sites with significant climate warming for diverse vegetation biomes, and used global gridded ...

Deep time evidence for climate sensitivity increase with warming

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
Future global warming from anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions will depend on climate feedbacks, the effect of which is expressed by climate sensitivity, the warming for a doubling of atmospheric CO2 content. It is not clear how feedbacks, sensitivity,

Inter-Model Warming Projection Spread: Inherited Traits from Control Climate Diversity

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Since Chaney’s report, the range of global warming projections in response to a doubling of CO2—from 1.5 °C to 4.5 °C or greater —remains largely unscathed by the onslaught of new scientific insights. Conventional thinking regards inter-model differences

Parents’ perspectives about discussing climate change during well-child visits

open access: yesThe Journal of Climate Change and Health, 2021
Objectives: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends discussing climate change with parents, particularly at well-child visits; however, parental opinions about receiving climate change information at their child's checkup are largely unknown.

Historical Changes in Wind‐Driven Ocean Circulation Can Accelerate Global Warming

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Mitigation and adaptation strategies for climate change depend on accurate climate projections for the coming decades. While changes in radiative heat fluxes are known to contribute to surface warming, changes to ocean circulation can also impact the ...

Characteristics of population exposure to climate extremes from regional to global 1.5 °C and 2.0 °C warming in CMIP6 models

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2023
The intensities and occurrences of heat extremes are projected to increase in a warmer climate, and relevant policies have been established to address different warming levels.

Deep Learning Identifies the Climate Warming Signal in Global Ocean Chlorophyll From Satellite Records

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Satellite remote sensing of chlorophyll‐a (Chl‐a) provides the only continuous global‐scale monitoring of phytoplankton abundance for over two decades. While certain trends have been observed in the satellite Chl‐a data, it remains uncertain whether the ...

Climate refugia implications of warming and land-intensive mitigation under overshoot

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Biodiversity loss is expected to escalate with every increment of global warming. Simultaneously, land-intensive climate change mitigation strategies, such as afforestation and bioenergy, may further compound biodiversity loss.

Climatic warming and freshwater environment. Climatic warming and lake plankton communities.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Limnology (Rikusuigaku Zasshi), 2000

Why Does the Ensemble Mean of CMIP6 Models Simulate Arctic Temperature More Accurately Than Global Temperature?

open access: yesAtmosphere
An accurate simulation and projection of future warming are needed for a proper policy response to expected climate change. We examine the simulations of the mean global and Arctic surface air temperatures by the CMIP6 (Climate Models Intercomparison ...
