Mechanical Behavior and Microstructural Changes Associated with Tensile Deformation above the Martensite Start Temperature during Quenching and Subsequent Partitioning of a Low‐Alloy 37SiB6 Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new experimental setup, incorporating digital image correlation and infrared thermography in combination with inductive‐conductive heating for precise temperature control, is used to analyze the mechanical behavior and microstructural changes of sheet metal under complex thermomechanical test conditions that represent quench and partitioning ...

Abrupt climate changes of the last deglaciation detected in a Western Mediterranean forest record [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Abrupt changes in Western Mediterranean climate during the last deglaciation (20 to 6 cal ka BP) are detected in marine core MD95-2043 (Alboran Sea) through the investigation of high-resolution pollen data and pollen-based climate reconstructions by the ...

Development of Aluminum Scandium Alloys for Hydrogen Storage Valves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Different aluminum alloy series and various aluminum‐scandium alloys with differing Sc and Zr levels are evaluated for use in hydrogen storage valve production. The alloys undergo hardness testing, optical microscopy, and tensile strength analysis, with hardening behavior studied under varying conditions.

Climate change perceptions and adaptation by Sebei pastoralists in Mount Elgon, Uganda: a qualitative survey

open access: yesJournal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine
Background Pastoralists’ sedentarisation and agriculturalisation might increase their vulnerability to climate change impacts, but few studies have investigated if this is the case in mountain areas.

Trends of meteorological elements and recommended grapevine cultivars for the vineyard zone Vršac [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences (Belgrade), 2006
Climatic changes on the global level have consequences in changes of meteorological and climatologic conditions in vinegrowing areas. The aim of this paper was to analyze trends of the meteorological elements and determine suitability of growing ...

Climatic Changes and Numerical Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The physical basis for modeling climatic change is considered in connection with the construction of global circulation models (GCM) for simulation of the climate itself and geophysical aspects of the interaction between man and climate.

Combining Metal Additive Manufacturing and Casting Technology: High Performance Cooling Channels for Electric Powertrain Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
When realized as inserts in high‐pressure die casting, aluminum cooling channels for electric powertrain components and similar applications typically require a stabilizing filler to survive the process. The present study investigates relinquishing this filler using additively manufactured inserts promising performance improvements.

Influence of meteorological factors, snow properties and climatic changes on evaporation from the snow cover surface

open access: yesВодное хозяйство России: проблемы, технологии, управление, 2023
The contribution of evaporation from the surface of the snow cover to the water balance of the land surface is a little-studied area of hydrology. Th e growing relevance of these studies increases with climate warming and more active involvement of the ...

The structure of the climate debate [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
First-best climate policy is a uniform carbon tax which gradually rises over time. Civil servants have complicated climate policy to expand bureaucracies, politicians to create rents. Environmentalists have exaggerated climate change to gain influence, other activists have joined the climate bandwagon.
