Landowners' cognitions and motivations coupled with practice durability influence persistence in grazing agricultural conservation practices in southwest Virginia

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
Efficacy of agricultural conservation practices may be improved by promoting their continued use by landowners (i.e., persistence) after cost‐share contracts with government agencies end. Many social, ecological, and institutional factors influence a landowner's decision to choose persistence at the conclusion of cost‐share funding, and these factors ...

Modelling of clinching joint pull-out test

open access: yesComputer Methods in Materials Science, 2015
The paper presents the model of the tests on joints obtained by clinching (mechanical joining) high-strength TRIP690 steels. A numerical finite element analysis of the joint with a bottom thickness of 0.6, 0.7 and 0.8 mm was carried out using the MSC.MARC&MENTAT implicit software.

The Extraordinary and the Ordinary: The Possibilities and Problems of Eberhard Jüngel’s Hermeneutics

open access: yesModern Theology, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 66-81, January 2026.
Abstract Eberhard Jüngel insists on the absolute transcendence of God and on human language as the vehicle for that transcendence. In doing so, he makes claims both about the power of language and the limits of humanity in relation to language. In exploring this tension, the essay will examine whether Jüngel successfully navigates the tension between ...

STUDY ON THE MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE AND FAILURE MODE OF CLINCHING JOINT

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2016
The mechanics behavior and failure characteristics of clinching joint specimens were investigated through the quasi-static tests and dynamic tests of single clinching joints under cross tension, lap shear and couch peel conditions, and also through the ...

Optimization of a Center-Punching Mechanical Clinching Process for High-Strength Steel DP980 and Aluminum Alloy AL5052 Sheets

open access: yesMetals
As research on new, lightweight energy vehicles continues to develop, the application of high-strength steel sheets with tensile strength greater than 1 GPa and their mechanical clinching technology, which is associated with aluminum alloys, has emerged ...

Studies on fatigue behaviour of weld-bonds of Al-Mn-Mg alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the present paper, fatigue and metallurgical behaviour of weld-bonds and adhesive bonds developed using 2 mm thick aluminium alloys namely 5052 alloy have been reported. Weld-bonds were prepared using structural adhesive (Epoxy resin) and spot welding

Lessons from the void: What Boltzmann brains teach

open access: yesAnalytic Philosophy, Volume 66, Issue 4, Page 594-621, December 2025.
Abstract Some physical theories predict that almost all brains in the universe are Boltzmann brains, that is, short‐lived disembodied brains that are accidentally assembled as a result of thermodynamic or quantum fluctuations. Physicists and philosophers of physics widely regard this proliferation as unacceptable, and so take its prediction as a basis ...

Analysis of the influence of forming tool geometry on clinching joint for cylindrical surfaces

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
Clinching is a technique for joining metal sheets without the use of welds or screws. This method of joining uses only the energy of the joining process and no consumables to achieve local deformation of metal pieces.

Effect of the Friction Coefficient on Clinch Joints

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering and Management Sciences, 2020
In this study the effect of the friction coefficient on the clinch joints was examined in experimental and numerical way also. The knowledge of the frictional behaviour during the mechanical joining (i.e. clinching) is important from the point of view of resultant geometry which is related to and influence the strength of the joints, and furthermore ...
