Addressing Challenges in Wildlife Rehabilitation: Antimicrobial-Resistant Bacteria from Wounds and Fractures in Wild Birds

open access: yesAnimals
Injuries and bone fractures are the most frequent causes of admission at wildlife rescue centers. Wild birds are more susceptible to open fractures due to their anatomical structure, which can lead to osteomyelitis and necrosis.

Electrochemical and Gravimetric Investigation of the Corrosion Inhibition Performance of Clindamycin for Mild Steel in Acidic Media [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials
The corrosion inhibition performance of clindamycin for mild steel in 2.0 M H2SO4 has been studied using gravimetric and electrochemical methods. The results showed that the clindamycin inhibited mild steel corrosion in 2.0 M H2SO4 solution.

CLINDAMYCIN (CLEOCIN) COLITIS [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1974
Clindamycin (Cleocin) is a synthetic antibiotic used widely against gram-positive and anaerobic organisms. In 6 patients receiving this drug, we have observed the acute onset of colitis lasting several weeks. Barium enema examinations in all patients revealed that 3 had marked mucosal abnormalities and 3 were normal.

Recent Advances in Injectable Hydrogel Biotherapeutics for Regenerative Dental Medicine

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
This review analyses multifunctional injectable hydrogels, natural or synthetic, physically or chemically crosslinked, that deliver exosomes, stem cells, and other bioactive cues to inflamed or damaged oral tissues. We discuss their immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, angiogenic, and osteogenic capacities, highlighting advances that enable regenerative ...

A butyrate‐producing synbiotic mitigates intestinal inflammation in a murine colitis model

open access: yesmLife, EarlyView.
Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic condition characterized by intestinal inflammation and gut dysbiosis, with limited treatment options primarily focused on immune‐modulating therapies. Among potential therapeutic agents, butyrate has emerged as a promising candidate due to its anti‐inflammatory and gut‐restorative properties ...

Evaluating Effects of Antibiotics Across Preclinical Models of the Human Gastrointestinal Microbiota. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
We compared microbiota changes following antibiotic treatment in two preclinical models of the human GI microbiota, minibioreactor arrays (MBRAs) and human microbiota associated mice (HMAmice). MBRAs and HMAmice were colonized with feces from 12 or 3 healthy humans, respectively, before treatment with each of 12 or 6 antibiotics.

Pharmacokinetics of Intrapartum Benzylpenicillin: Insights Into Candidate Regimens to Prevent Early Onset Neonatal Group B Streptococcus Disease

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Early onset neonatal Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infection accounts for significant global morbidity and mortality. Intrapartum prophylaxis with benzylpenicillin is advised for women at high risk of having a baby affected by early onset GBS disease. Pregnancy‐related physiological changes can alter pharmacokinetics. To estimate the intrapartum
