Image distortion of intra-oral photographs: The root coverage model.

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2020
AIM Clinical photographs have been advocated in studies dealing with the quantity of root coverage. Changes in different angles of the camera when taking a photograph may lead to parallax errors resulting in inaccurate measurements. The aim of this study

NHS targets are distorting clinical need

BMJ, 2003
Doctors believe that most of the targets imposed by the Department of Health do not benefit patients and are damaging relations between doctors and managers, between doctors and patients, and between GPs and hospital doctors. There was overwhelming support for a motion that said that the auditing of waiting times in emergency departments and the four ...

Clinical correlates of distorted auditory perception in first‐episode psychosis

Early Intervention in Psychiatry, 2014

Do Fixed Patent Terms Distort Innovation?: Evidence from Cancer Clinical Trials [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
Patents award innovators a fixed period of market exclusivity, e.g., 20 years in the United States. Yet, since in many industries firms file patents at the time of discovery (“invention”) rather than first sale (“commercialization”), effective patent terms vary: inventions that commercialize at the time of invention receive a full patent term, whereas ...

Image Distortions in Clinical PET/MR Imaging

2013
Whole-body PET/MR imaging has the potential to supplement or even replace combined PET/CT imaging in selected clinical indications. In view of the lack of separate standard transmission sources in combined PET/MR imaging systems, attenuation correction (AC) of the PET data is performed using the available MR images. Given the novelty of MR-based AC (MR-

Harmonic Distortion Measurements in Clinical Hearing Aid FittingPreliminary Report

Scandinavian Audiology, 1990
Measurement of the distortion from hearing aids and its influence on their fitting has become practicable with the implementation of real ear measurement in the audiological clinic. Thus the harmonic distortion measured in the ear fitted with the hearing aid can be measured by means of a probe in the ear canal.

Toward optimizing the clinical utility of distortion product otoacoustic emission measurements

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996
This study examined the effect of primary stimulus level on the ability of distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) measurements to separate normal-hearing from hearing-impaired ears. Complete I/O functions were obtained for nine f2 frequencies on 210 people approximately evenly divided between normal hearing and hearing impaired.

Clinical Experience with Stereotactic Digital Subtraction Angiography with Distortion Correction Software

Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 1996
Recently developed software for correction of the geometric distortion in digital subtraction angiography was tested clinically. Localization and subsequent radiosurgical treatment of intracranial arteriovenous malformations was undertaken in 60 patients. During each angiographic series, a series of grid images was also acquired.
