Clinical oxidation parameters of aging
Free Radical Research, 2006Aging is a complex progressive physiological alteration of the organism which ultimately leads to death. During the whole life a human being is confronted with oxidative stress. To measure how this oxidative stress is developing during the aging process and how it changes the cellular metabolism several substances have been pronounced as biomarkers ...

Parameter optimisation in clinical pharmacokinetics
Computer Programs in Biomedicine, 1982This paper describes a package of computer programs designed to be used in Clinical Pharmacokinetics or Clinical Chemistry Laboratories to assist in the interpretation of plasma drug concentration measurements. A simple pharmacokinetic model is utilised, and values of the necessary parameters for the general population determined using standard ...

Reverberation as a parameter in clinical testing
International Journal of Audiology, 1978Word identification was measured binaurally and monaurally using the Modified Rhyme Test under noise and reverberation. Normally hearing and hearing-impaired subjects were tested. A change in reverberation time from 0.25 to 0.50 s in a small audiometric room caused a significant change in word identification scores in both groups of subjects.

Clinical Utility of Reticulocyte Parameters
Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 2015The reticulocyte count reflects the erythropoietic activity of bone marrow and is thus useful in both diagnosing anemias and monitoring bone marrow response to therapy. Automated flow-cytometric analysis has led to a significant advance in reticulocyte counting, by simultaneously providing additional parameters and indices such as the reticulocyte ...

Clinical parameters predicting tonsillar malignancy
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2020Tonsillectomy is indicated in unilateral tonsillar enlargement (UTE) to rule out malignancy, which eventually is found in about 1.4% of the patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presenting symptoms of patients who underwent tonsillectomy for UTE and identify parameters that are associated with an increased risk for malignancy, for better ...

Assessment of the clinical course with inflammatory parameters
Injury, 2007Inflammatory changes after trauma depend on the severity and the distribution of the injury and can be modified by the medical treatment. They precede the development of organ dysfunction and may be used for monitoring purposes. Among these, pro-inflammatory cytokines appear to be the most reliable parameters.
