The description of Clinostomum complanatum (Rudolphi) is dated by various authors as 1809, 1814, 1819, and 1899, that of Clinostomum marginatum (Rudolphi) as 1809 and 1819. Though some of these datings are based on misprints, of special importance is the fact that Rudolphi has described his Distoma complanatum as a new species twice, in 1814 and again

Studies on the lipid metabolism of the metacercariae of Clinostomum complanatum (Trematoda: Digenea)
International Journal for Parasitology, 1981Abstract Metacercariae of Clinostomum complanatum possess considerable amounts of lipids. Fractionation of the lipids shows triglycerides and phospholipids as the major components whereas cholesterol and free fatty acids are minor components. Furthermore phospholipid fractions by thin layer chromatography reveal lecithin and cephalin as the major ...

Rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) stocked into a small prairie dug-out were examined for helminths at harvest time. Five species of helminths were found (Diplostomum sp., Diplostomulum scheuringi, Clinostomum complanatum, Crepidostomum farionis and Pomphorhynchus bulbocolli); C. farionis and P.

Abstract Yellow grub disease is a common fish parasitosis caused by Clinostomum species. Clinostomum complanatum is a cosmopolitan trematode with a complex life-cycle and low host specificity. Due to their infectivity to humans, the metacercariae of C. complanatum are considered zoonotic trematodes.

Distribution of Clinostomum complanatum in perch (Perca fluviatilis) of freshwater in France
Over the last two decades, the diffusion of new eating habits and the increase of fish products demand lead to a raising risk for consumers due to food-borne parasitic zoonoses. Trematodes belonging to the Clinostomidae family are present, at the larval stage, in numerous freshwater fish.Duflot, Maureen +6 more
